My car tax is due on 30 September, and apparently the benefits of a paper tax disc have now become redundant, as the DVLA and police now rely on the electronic vehicle register to check if a vehicle is taxed or not. From 1 October motorists will no longer need to display a tax disc in their vehicle but they will still need to tax it, they just won’t get a tax disc. I understand this will save around £10 million every year, but I must say I will miss not having a tax disc on my car – must remember to get it on line though! Here’s a link with full details: car tax changes
