Should you have a personal MOT?

If your car is a certain age, you must have an annual MOT check to make sure it is legal for use on the road. Should you be doing something similar for your own health?

Many business owners take better care of their cars than of themselves.

If you are a business owner, how long would the business exist if you or a key member of your team become ill?

Is there some noise under your own bonnet that should be checked out? We give our car a 12,000 mile service; should we also give ourselves a 12,000 meal service?

Prevention is better than cure is an old cliché, but it happens to be true.

The good news is that the tax man will help pay towards the cost of a health screen for you as a director of your company or if you provide it to your key team members.

Unlike private medical insurance, health screening is not a taxable benefit, providing that the contract is between the employer and the health screening provider.

The cost to the employer is a fully deductible cost in the annual accounts for tax purposes.

The benefit can be provided to selected team members. It does not need to be provided to everyone in your organisation.
