Help from HMRC if you cannot pay your tax bill because of the recent floods

HMRC has opened a new telephone helpline, 0800 904 7900, to provide help and advice on tax problems experienced by individuals and businesses affected by the recent floods.

The helpline is open:

Weekdays between 8am to 8pm

Weekends between 8am and 4pm

HMRC say they will

•  agree time to pay arrangements where taxpayers are unable to pay as a result of the floods

•  agree a practical approach when individuals and businesses have lost vital records to the floods

•  suspend debt collection proceedings for those affected by the floods

•  cancel penalties if statutory deadlines have been missed due to the floods.
